Hunter Haven Guesthouse Review

5 Star Quality Accomodation in NSW's Hunter Valley

Over the weekend, my husband and I decided we wanted to visit Australia's premier wine country: Hunter Valley. We love the pampering of 5 star hotels, the serenity of overseas villas but also the comfort of a home. So when I stumbled across Hunter Haven Guesthouse on Airbnb I knew we found the perfect place to unwind.

The Property

The Hunter Haven Guesthouse is a newly renovated one storey home in Cessnock which is less than 10 minutes away from the vineyards, and a 2 minute walk from the local shopping centre. The house is pretty open floored for the major social areas which encourages a lot of socialising. For example, there are also 2 lounge rooms with one filled with various reading material, and boardgames, and the other adjacent to the kitchen with a tv, and stationary table.

Within the home there are 4 bedrooms that sleeps 8 guests:

1 x master bedroom with a queen sized bed, ensuite (shower not bathtub), and spacious walk in wardrobe

1 x bedroom with a queen size bed, reading nook, and vanity table

1 x bedroom with a double bed, and vanity table

1 x bedroom with a double bed and children's toy corner

There are 2 bathrooms in the home with one in the master suite, and the other opposite the master suite that has a toilet, shower, and deep tub. Adjacent to the bathroom is the laundry room which has a washer only, and the environmentally friendly Aussie classic of a hills hoist outside to dry your clothes. While you have full reign over the house during your stay, the only off limit area is the linen closet in the laundry room.

The kitchen is basically my husband, and my dream come true! A centre counter with marble top finish, plenty of cupboards for storage, and a walk in pantry with everything neatly organised. There is a lot of natural light that illuminates the property due to the abundance of windows. On the left of the kitchen is moveable windows so those on the barstools outside can easily talk to those inside.

Outside in the backyard is a really social area with various seating options like a swing, hammock, dining table, bbq, and plenty of grass for the kids to run around.

Getting There + Parking

Hunter Haven Guesthouse is a 2 hour drive from Sydney CBD. You'll really enjoy the drive out to Hunter Valley as it has picturesque fields that are scattered with happy cows, sheep, alpaca, and horses! The house is located in Cessnock, and has an exposed parking area next to the house (still on the property) which could fit 4 small cars, or 2 big ones.

Amenities

The host Kelly is honestly such an amazing host! We were greeted by a fully air conditioned house during the scorching heat of Australia summer, and even a complimentary bottle of bubbly in the bridge.

In the bathroom she had provided menstrual products (pads, tampons), some really luxe looking candles, lots of cooking supplies, and the treasured wifi password.

Overall Comfort

Honestly, Hunter Haven Guesthouse was an amazing place to stay! I said it on Instagram, and I'll say it again. It was like staying in a 5 star hotel even though it's someone's house?! Everything was so clean. The house was beautifully decorated, and so spacious that you could just relax in your own corner. There was plenty of things to do in the area, or even just relax with over a board game, and glass of wine at home.

You can really tell the love that went into making this house. Plus the entire place was so instagrammable!
