As I grow older, and become more exposed to realities of how different products are produced until they reach my consumer hands, the more I make more conscious decisions about what brands I want to support.
Two of the major reasons I've turned towards supporting vegan, natural, and cruelty-free makeup brands:
Animal testing
Animal testing is an unfortunate reality of the makeup industry but is one that doesn't have to exist for us to still get the latest liquid lipstick shades. Our furry friends shouldn't have to suffer from chemical burns, deformities, and being locked in a cage somewhere for the sake of our vanity. One of the easiest ways to determine if a product is safe for human use is manufacturers asking themselves "hey, is this product full of harmful chemicals?". If yes, then obviously it is not safe to use on humans, and shouldn't be used on animals.
Our largest organ
We apply sunscreen to protect ourselves from sun damage, we learn how to swim to stop us from drowning, and we don't put our hands in fire so we don't burn. So why aren't we more cautious of the ingredients we put on our faces through the makeup we use? By choosing products that have no harmful ingredients, and have proven natural ingredients, I am investing in my skin, instead of hiding blemishes with things that cause long term blemishes.
So what brands do I think are worth your dollar, while still making you a environmentally conscious babe?
Raww Cosmetics
Raww Cosmetics is a newcomer to the makeup industry. They launched this August, and are an Australian made cosmetics line that boasts a large range for such a new brand. Raww has taken a stand against poor makeup choices by offering it's customers products that ONLY contain all natural, certified organic ingredients that have not been tested on animals!

Seeing Thin Lizzy is like getting blast from the past. From when it was founded in 2005 in Auckland, I couldn't turn on the TV without seeing an infomercial about the wonders of the Thin Lizzy 6in1 compact. Due to their much loved formulas, and vegan friendly ingredients, Thin Lizzy has grown into a tried, and tested international sensation. Thin Lizzy products don't contain harmful chemicals, no heavy/oily moisturisers, no drying powders, and no animal byproducts!
Have I ever stopped talking about Inika Organics from when I first was introduced to them? No, and legend has it I'm still telling everyone about them...
Inika Organics is by far one of my favourite makeup brands for several reasons! They are officially certified to be cruelty free, vegan, use only organic ingredients, Halal, and the Truth in Beauty certification which says their brand is "safe, natural, ethical[ly] and environmentally conscious."
Inika Organics has won over 35 International awards to prove that you can make amazing, pigmented, and long lasting makeup products without harming a thing, and actually leaving the world a little better in the process. They're loving approach to creating their range with the best ingredients, and transparency around how their products is made makes them a brand you can trust with your face!
Which of these cruelty-free brands would you want to try? Or what cruelty-free brand do you recommend? Let me know in the comments xx
