Over the weekend I had the pleasure of a staycation with my husband, and our dog Sookie at Ovolo 1888 Darling Harbour.
Like many, we've been dealing with the increased stress, and hardships that has happened due to the pandemic so this was a much needed staycay for us to unwind, and spend quality time with our 11 year old Pomeranian.
It was actually Sookie's first time in a hotel! This is because not many hotels are dog friendly, and we opt to only stay in 4 or 5 star hotels.
What is Ovolo 1888 like?
Ovolo 1888 is an award winning group of boutique hotels. We stayed in the Darling Harbour location which is in a refurbished wool store from 1888 (hence the name).
The decor is a balance of the nostalgia of as time passed with the necessities of the modern traveller. Throughout are reclaimed steel beams, cosy nooks, a lively bar, exposed brick walls, free mini bars in your room, and a restaurant which specialises in Mediterranian cuisine.

Is Ovolo 1888 Darling Harbour dog friendly?
Of course! Why? Dogs are awesome.
I mean seriously, look at Sookie. She's 11 years old, wearing sushi + shibu inu pyjamas, and her favourite thing to do is cuddle. She deserved a hotel stay.
The whole hotel is dog friendly so wine, and dine with your dog or unwind in the big free standing tubs.
We stayed in the King Deluxe room which had a dog bed, a water + food bowl, and a toy right next to our bed.
As mentioned, they even give free goodie bags for your dog which contained dog treets, dog food, and some doggy poo bags.
And Sookie loved the dog food!
But my absolute favourite inclusion was this custom recipe for the perfect staycay!
