Canningvale Ella Bed Base 2021 Review

I adore the curated, minimalistic, and warm aesthetic of Scandinavian bedrooms. Due to the lockdowns in NSW it presented me the perfect opportunity to refresh one of our spare bedrooms!

Out with the old bed base

Firstly, we removed the Koala king bed base which constantly made the mattress move/slip as it’s just a platform with nothing to keep the mattress in place. Next we looked for a bed base that had a high headboard so you have something to support your spine when sitting up in bed, had sides that keep the mattress in place, and had flat slats so the mattress could breathe much better than the previous bed base.

We chose the Ella bed base from Canningvale in the shade ‘Cappuccino’ because it fit all the criteria, and was a lovely light colour that provided a premium feel that you’d associate with a masters bedroom. Even though the bed base is for one of our spare bedrooms I still wanted each bedroom to be comfortable as well as calming, and styled like a masters bedroom.

The Ella bed base was previously $1,199.99 but the price has been dropped to just $499.99 which is bargain for a king bed base!

Who is Canningvale?

Canningvale is a household name in Australian homewares, and soft textiles. This family owned business has been around since 1977, and have continued to make high quality, sustainable products that each have a 5 year warranty.

Best known for their bathrooms products, and bedding, they’ve since expanded to furniture, sleepwear, and accessories like rugs!

What’s the Ella bed base made of?

This dreamy Canningvale bed base is made of 100% pollster cover with a mixture of plywood, and solid wood for the frames, and metal support rails. The measurements for the king size is W195cm x L219cm x H120cm.

Are Canningvale bed bases easy to assemble?

The elegant design is incredibly easy to assemble - took us about 10 minutes! None of the pieces are particularly heavy to carry so it can easily be assembled by one person but I had my husband help me. One thing to note is that the slats are hidden in the bottom pocket at the back of the headboard. It took me a while to find them as it’s not on the instructions. Other than that, it was simple, quick, and the results are gorgeous!

How I styled the Ella bed base

I styled mine with:

Eva hemp linen fitted sheet in the shade ‘Oat’

Ikea’s European Nattjasmin pillowcases

Big W’s House & Home Lucy cushion in ‘Blush’

Country Road’s Myrtle cushion in a colour that is no longer sold

And Koala’s tencel sheets in ‘Cloud White’

This bed base was gifted by Canningvale. Product was chosen by me. All opinions stated are my own.
